NVBCC Member Spotlights: Maurice Mbata and Michael Hill
Maurice Mbata joined the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce in March 2013. In a very short time, he has become a member of the Public Relations Committee and an Ambassador for NVBCC.
He began his career with Liberty Mutual in January 2013. He specializes in personal lines insurance covering AUTO-HOME-LIFE and Annuities, Employee Voluntary Benefits. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland University College with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and served in the U.S Army for 8 years, receiving the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
He and his wife enjoy spending time with their 2 children. Maurice has an interest in activities and events targeted towards helping veterans.
Michael Hill became a member of NVBCC in August 2012. He is the Facility Manger for the KMC Multipurpose Center and Training Center located at 6343 South Kings Highway in Alexandria, Virginia. Mr. Hill manages this state-of-the-art, purpose-built, flexible venue designed to meet individuals training needs, corporate meetings, seminars, and conference request. Mr. Hill oversees all property management activity for the multipurpose center and interacts with the property owners, tenants, applicants, vendors, and public. As the facility manager, Mr. Hill is responsible for the development and implementation of programs designed to increase occupancy by marketing the facility.
The facility offers workspace for start-up companies; establish firms, satellite and virtual offices that are fully equipped and ready to go. In addition, KMC offers a meeting room to host your Stockholders and Community meetings, Network Receptions, Seminars and Conferences along with Family Reunions, Parties, Repast, and Seasonal events. The Diamond Room can seat 70 people for dinner, up to 90 cocktail styles, 200 people standing and 140 people seated.

NVBCC Announces the Winners of its 2012 Business Honors
NVBCC's 2012 Annual Meeting: The Future of Northern Virginia Black Business was a resounding success! On November 8, 2012, businesses and entrepreneurs gathering at the Waterford in Springfield, VA to celebrate a year of success and to hear the 2013 economic forecast.
Dr. Lisa Sturtevant, Deputy Director of the George Mason University Center for Economic Analysis discussed the economic future of Northern Virginia. Following Sturtevant's presentation, Congressman Gerry Connolly and Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova assisted in presenting NVBCCs business honors to the following recipients:
