Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce Member Partners are leaders. Not only are Member Partners innovative, driven professionals, they actively participate in the organizations and groups that form the foundation of our area communities.
Member Partners share these skills and talents with the Chamber by advising the Board of Directors, leading community service initiatives, and serving on committees. Member Partners also lead ongoing programs and special events, including the Annual Meeting and Gala, Advocacy Training, and seminars.
Serving on a committee offers opportunities to build and strengthen professional networks, increase visibility within the Chamber and throughout the community, and develop leadership and management skills.
Northern Virginia BCC standing committees include:
Committee members monitor Chamber finances and support the Board of Directors in fulfilling its fiduciary role.
Fundraising and Strategic Partnership Development
Committee members assist the Chamber in securing sponsorships and other support.
Strategically increasing the number of members is important to the long-term success of the Chamber. This committee develops and implements strategies for continued membership growth and retention, and defines membership benefits.
Committee members manage the Board, Advisory Council and other leadership selection processes, identifying, cultivating and recommending candidates to the Board of Directors.
With the continuous changes in laws and policies important to businesses and the region, it’s tough for a business to keep up with developments. This committee liaisons with community groups (i.e., NOVA Coalition, Northern Virginia Urban League and others), and local, state and federal officials to promote a pro-business environment that supports the growth and development of the region.
The Chamber’s programs fuel the organization, providing members opportunities to build networks, develop professional skills, and increase their ability to manage and grow their businesses. This committee helps plan and implement programs and events.
This committee represents the face of the Chamber by managing our website, media contacts and marketing materials, and working with other committees to strategically and creatively promote programs and the organization as a whole.
